CIK European Championship - Baby Race has tough weekend at Sarno

As always can happen in racing, there are tough weekends to deal with and in a long season like Baby Race’s one, the first tough break came in the opening round of the European OK and OKJ championship at Sarno. The same track that, one week earlier, had handed Baby Race top results. Due to unfortunate circumstances and contacts, none of the team’s drivers made it to the top-10 in the Final.

Starting from the OK, where a penalty assessed during the heats forced Marzio Moretti to start from the back. At the beginning of the Final, the Mantua-based driver made contact with some of his contenders and team-mate Finlay Kenneally was caught in the melee. Moretti was forced to retire, while the Brit ended up 28th.

In OK Junior, Andrea Rosso was holding fourth place in the final after the 8th place secured with the combined heat results. While trying to battle for the podium, he tangled with another driver and lost ground, before eventually ending up off-track and retiring. Luca Bosco, who was 21st after the heats, was involved in a first-lap contact but managed to cross the line in 22nd. Alexey Brizhan, who moved past the heats in P20, suffered from contacts and mistakes wounding up in the same position. Paul Aron couldn’t make it to the Final due to a crash during the heats.
