WSK Super Master Series - 7 Laghi - Rosso, Baby Race dominate OKJ

Andrea Rosso, who cruised to the OKJ win and Nikita Bedrin, who took second place in the Mini Class, were the brightest stars of the WSK Super Master Series round held at the 7 Laghi track in Castelletto di Branduzzo. Baby Race retained the series lead in the Junior category: Rosso is currently sitting on top with 169 points in front of Doohan (127) and Bulantsev (124). After a tough qualifying session that forced him to settle with 12th place, he recovered positions in the heats. He then went on to win the Pre-Final before cruising to another victory in the Final. Alexey Brizhan experienced a great weekend too ending up ninth in the Pre-Final before facing tough fortunes in the final and wounding up 24th. Luca Bosco delivered a stunning performance: despite a broken rib, the Italian fought harder than ever and rounded out the top-10 in the pre-final. Unfortunately, the pain was too much to deal with in the Final and he had to retire. It was a pity for Paul Aron, who took P19 in the Pre-Final and thus missed the cut to the final.

As usual, Bedrin was the major contender in the Mini class. After dominating the Pre Final A race, the Russian youngster secured a valuable second place in the final and is still in the hunt for the championship lead. He has 120 points versus the 122 of the leader, Antonelli, while third-placed Spina has 104 points. Rashid Al Dhaheri put up a remarkable showing as he continues to show great signs of competitive growth. The driver from the Emirates did well during the heats, and then scored a brilliant 12th place in the final. Unfortunately, Alessandro Cenedese could not take part in the Final due to a contact in the Pre-Final despite setting excellent laptimes. Max Popov could not make his way to the final too while Brando Badoer did not reach the Pre-Final stage.

Lining-up in the OK category, Edoardo Morricone recovered well in the Pre-Final ending up in P16 before crossing the line in P20 in the final. Struck with flu, Marzio Moretti had to withdraw from the event on Saturday.
